Edition is a design-led, considered and conscious furniture and homewares supply company based in the heart of the Indonesian Archipelago. 

Edition was founded by James Mitchell in 2021 in order to source export quality goods for his own retail shops in New Zealand operating under the brand Kayu Studio.

James found himself frustrated with the challenges faced when sourcing directly from many Indonesian suppliers. Edition was developed to take control of quality standards and ensure consistency across all aspects of the production, packaging and logistics process.

James has teamed up with his partner Jessie Logager, a Danish creative. Their shared passion for functional, thoughtfully designed pieces that celebrate the unique craftsmanship of Indonesia became the driving force behind Edition.

James with his deep roots in building and woodwork brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to Edition. Together with Jessie’s expertise in minimalist Scandinavian design, they curate a collection that integrates contemporary design with the rich heritage of Indonesian craft.

James and Jessie have made it a priority to work closely with local craftsmen, ensuring fair trade practices and fostering a sense of community. This commitment to ethical sourcing and production has become the backbone of Edition.
